Feature Friday - Artsy VaVa

Have you ever walked by the rolls of window screen at the store and though to yourself,
"That screen would make an awesome bag"
What?
You have never thought that!
Well, neither have I, but lucky for us someone else did just that.

After spending way too much time cleaning sand out of her beach bag Artsy VaVa turned to window screen. Is this not the greatest idea ever?
The sand falls right out.

But lets not stop there.
Check out these wonderful flowers that she made.

Glue them onto some stretched canvas and add a few sticks and voila...
a beautiful wall hanging.

And you must check out her tutorial on how to make these fabulous cuffs.

I've seen about a billion crafts using book pages but this is the first time I've seen them on a cuff.
It's brilliant!!

Have you seen enough?
No?
I didn't think so.
Would you believe me if I told you this bar used to be a dresser??

And the best part was that it only cost around $20!!!

But please don't stop here. Head on over to Artsy VaVa to check out more of her wonderful ideas.

T.V Tray Make Over

Have you ever wondered what to do with those old t.v trays?
A few months ago, as the snow days were piling up, I was trying to come up with new ideas to entertain the girls. I found a couple t.v. trays in the basement and decided to cover them with chalkboard paint.

And since they are made of metal they are also magnetic!!

I had a before photo as well as a couple photos of the girls using these but they must have been deleted. I can't find them anywhere.

HAPPY HUMP DAY!!

Feature Friday - Meg and Mum's

Today I would like to introduce Meg and Mum's. I first discovered Meg and Mum's back in April when I saw this adorable step seat.

Since then Meg has continued to inspire me with her before and after projects. Like this ugly unique sofa that she managed to turn into something beautiful and useful.

and check out this cute little side table. This one is definitely my favorite. I love the fabric that she chose for the cushion.

Click HERE to see more great projects as well as some of her Mum's mosaic masterpieces.

The REAL Fathers Day Gifts.

As you all know, yesterday I intended on showing you all what the girls made for Fathers Day this year but due to some complications, there was a change of plans. Instead you were left with last years Fathers Day gift. Although I do think it was a very adorable gift. (If you missed it you can view it HERE)
But now, on to what you have all been waiting for. It all started with a trip to Michaels. I love that store!!! I found this adorable kit to make your own stepping stone.
Although I think the kit was very useful and it came with some adorable star and moon decoration, I think this project would be very easy to do without a kit. Just mix up some cement, pour it into some sort of form (a disposable baking dish would work great), add hand prints, decorative stones and voila...

Sorry for the crappy pic. I took better ones but for some reason they would not upload.

I waited 24 hours for the cement to set a little before adding the names. Then another 24 hours before I took it out of the form. Isn't that the cutest little thing?
I also picked up a couple cheap coffee cups to let the children decorate for Daddy and Grandpa.

Across from the coffee cups I spotted this adorable little bird house and knew it was perfect for Grandpa.

He loves sitting outside of a morning with his cup of coffee, watching the birds hop around his yard.
I gave the kids some tempera paint and paint brushes, dressed them in a plastic bag and let them go wild.

Bugaboo was pretty pissed off that I wouldn't let her eat the paint so she didn't participate much.

Princess on the other hand had a blast.

Here is what the finished product looked like. Isn't it fabulous?

Ok, so maybe these gifts are not as pretty or fabulous as some of the other fathers day gifts that I have seen floating around blog land but this was something that the kids were able to do 100% on their own without any help from Mom. I think that alone is what makes them so special.
